B.Sc nursing in Nepal is a 4-year program and is available in different colleges affiliated to TribhuvanUniversity, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University and Purbanchal University. B.Sc Nursing is a more concrete and specialized study of nursing programme which helps intermediate level students with knowledge, skill and employment competency required to function efficiently, day in and day out in the health care industry.

B.Sc Nursing helps a certified candidate to secure a middle level or managerial level position in a teaching institution, hospitals as well as corporate.  B.sc nursing also proves ones illegibility for vacancy announcements in government sectors of Nepal.

Selection Procedure

For both Scholarship and Paying seats, candidates selection is done by Medical Education Commission (MEC) according to the Merit list of Common Entrance Exam (CEE) conducted by MEC. Selection is done through online matching process.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Passed 10+2 Science or equivalent (with Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with 50% aggregate in total marks or GPA 2.4

OR

  • Secured the Percentage equivalent to above eligibility in regards to the certificate level programs (A-Level) with different grading system

OR

  • Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma (General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, DentalScience, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Physiotherapy) containing Physics, Chemistry and Biology with Certificate of Equivalence to Grade 12 Science program from National Examination Board

AND

  • Secured at least 50% aggregate in total marks both in Diploma and the Examination for equivalence

AND

  • Registered in Nepal Health Professional council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal Ayurveda Council as per related educational program.

As a precursor to the establishment of a University, a team dedicated people first established Kathmandu Valley Campus in 1985 to provide education in Intermediate of Science (I.Sc). The same team proposed the establishment of Kathmandu University. After thorough discussion on the proposal in the Parliament, Kathmandu University was granted by an Act of Parliament on December 11, 1991.
