Science and technology in Nepal, sometimes shortened to S&T in Nepal, encompass the development and challenges of scientific research and technological innovation in Nepal, and how these developments, in turn, affect Nepali society, politics, and culture. Science and technology are small but emerging fields in Nepal. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment is the apex government body tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the development of science and technology in the country. Some of the popular Science and Technology courses are given below:

  2. Bachelor of Science in Forestry (B. Sc. Forestry)
  3. Bachelor of Science in Veterinary and Animal Husbandry (B. V.Sc & A.H)

The aim of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program is to train academically competent and practical oriented professional agriculturists. The B. Sc. Agriculture program is an eight semester (four-year) course after +2. In the first three years most of the courses are from basic core agricultural disciplines. In the fourth year, elective courses are offered to provide the students an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of their interest. Field practical’s, project works and study visits are part of the academic curriculum. The students must fulfill four years of residential learning to complete the requirements of B. Sc. Ag. curriculum.

Eligibilty criteria for BSc. Ag

  1. TU and AFU:Candidates having studied at least 100 marks in each subjects of  English, Chemistry and Biology and 50 marks in Physics and Maths in +2 Science or Agriculture  with a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregatein +2 or equivalent are eligible for admission to B.Sc. Agriculture program. Selection for admission is on a merit basis through an entrance examination. Candidates from National Examinations Board (NEB) with major Physics in +2 and having studied 100 marks of Biology in grade XI are also eligible to apply.
  2. Purbanchal University:Students who have successfully completed intermediate of science programme (10+2 (Science), I.Sc., I.Sc.Ag. or equivalent grade) with second division are eligible to apply for this programme.

In PU, there is a special provision for admission of in-service candidates in governmental or other institutional scholarship. However, such candidates also need to pass in the university entrance examination.

Selection Procedure

  • Selection in TU:

Admission is based on the merit list of the Entrance Exam. The grades / percentage of +2 and SEE / SLC will determine the rank in the merit list for same marks on Entrance Exam.

  • Selection in AFU:

The final merit list of applicants will be prepared by adding 10% of the total marks obtained in the SLC examination and 10% of the total marks obtained in the +2 examination to 80% of the marks obtained in the entrance examination. An applicant must secure a minimum of 50% marks to pass the test. Names of candidates who pass the entrance test will appear in the result list in merit order, on the basis of which candidates are selected for admission.

  • Selection in PU:

Admission is based on the merit secured by the applicants in the entrance examination conducted by Purbanchal University .

Students with +2 in Science, Intermediate of Science (I.Sc.), Technical Certificate Level (TCL) in Forestry, Diploma in Forestry, A-level or equivalent degree with at least 100-full-mark-courses in mathematics and biology and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate can apply for admission into the Bachelor of Science in Forestry Program. Students aspiring to get admission into the B.Sc. Forestry program have to get through an entrance examination conducted by the IOF and are selected on their merit scores.

The aim of B.V. Sc. & A.H. program is to train skilled and competent manpower in the area of livestock health, production and management. The regular B. V. Sc. & A.H. program is a five years course after graduating +2 which includes nine semesters of academic courses and a final one semester of internship. The Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc) is a bachelor's degree for studies in fisheries science in India. "Fisheries science" is the academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries.
