Bangladesh, officially the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, is a country in South Asia with Dhaka as its capital. English is widely used in medical and other higher education. The climate is tropical with a mild winter from October to March, and summer from March to June.
Bangladesh is the Next Eleven Emerging Economy. It has achieved significant strides in human and social development. The country is a founding member of SAARC, the Developing 8 Countries, and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). It contributes one of the largest peacekeeping to the United Nations.
Medical Education in Bangladesh
Bangladesh, being the ultimate destination away from home for Nepalese medical students, provides a quality medical education to each and every new medical aspirant. Colleges are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) & are affiliated with a university on the respective region.
Out of 96 recognized medical colleges in Bangladesh, 60 are private, 30 are public & 6 are run by the Bangladesh Armed Forces (under the Ministry of Defense). All the medical colleges award the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and/or Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degree.
Most of the colleges are recognized by Nepal Medical Council (NMC), Medical Council of India (MCI) and are listed in World Health Organization (WHO), Directory of Medical Schools.
Bangladesh for Nepalese Medical Aspirants
Bangladesh is popularly known for being one of the peaceful countries in the world. The friendship between Nepal and Bangladesh is not only limited in political aspect but also in medical education.
MBBS and BDS Programs in Bangladesh are very popular among Nepalese students. At present, about 4500 Nepalese students are pursuing their MBBS and BDS courses in Bangladesh.

Every year Embassy of Bangladesh in Nepal publishes notice for Application Form Submission for MBBS and BDS study under scholarship and paying quota in different Medical and Dental Colleges in Bangladesh.
Date of Application Form Submission: FROM FEBRUARY 26, 2022 TO APRIL 3, 2022.
Students willing to study MBBS / BDS in Bangladesh must submit this application form.
Valid Passport is an Essential document for Form Submission.
Am I Eligible to Study MBBS & BDS in Bangladesh?
Eligibility criteria:
- SLC or equivalent examination passed not before 2018 or 2019.
- +2 or equivalent examination passed not before 2020 or 2021.
- Minimum aggregate GPA in SLC or equivalent plus +2 or equivalent= 7.00 (seven)
- Minimum GPA either in SLC or equivalent or in +2 or equivalent= 3.5
- Minimum GPA in biology= 3.5 (minimum 59.5%)
How to calculate my GPA?
Calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SLC or equivalent:
- Consider marks obtained in top 5 subjects only (subjects in which you have scored higher marks).
- GPA in SLC or equivalent = (sum of Grade point of top five subjects) ÷ 5
- Calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in +2 or equivalent:
- Consider marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology only.
- GPA in +2 or equivalent = (sum of Grade Points in PCB) ÷ 3
- Now, Total GPA= (GPA in SLC) + (GPA in +2)
